Subscribe and Unsubscribe to Syslog

Subscribing to Syslog for a device enables receiving near real-time configuration updates. The Subscribing Syslog option is supported only for devices that are in the Managed and Failed status.

Prerequisites:

  • During installation, enable the flag for Syslog receiver. For setting the flag, see AppViewX Cloud Connector guide.

  • Ensure Syslog reception is enabled in Platform. See Platform User Guide for enabling the Syslog reception.

  • Ensure the device is managed.

To Subscribe/unsubscribe Syslog for a device:

  1. Go to Menu > ADC+ > ASSET MANAGEMENT > Device Inventory.
    By default, the ADC tab opens.
  2. Select the checkbox of a preferred device.
  3. Select the Actions dropdown menu from the menu bar.
  4. Select Subscribe Syslog from the dropdown list.
    The process of subscribing to Syslog may take some time, and once completed, the status in the Syslog column is updated to Subscribed along with a timestamp.
    Note:

    To cancel the subscription to Syslog, choose the Unsubscribe Syslog option from Actions dropdown menu. The unubscription option is supported for the devices that are in the Managed, Failed, or Unresolved status.
